And More Diamonds

If you thought I was kidding when I said that I had cut a lot of fabric on Monday, you were mistaken. I think that is the way I shed those Crankypants I had been wearing for a week or more.

This group looks a little more light and airy than the last batch. The next group of fabrics I have to press are for the Frosted Stars, so I won’t be cutting diamonds from those until I have used all the fabric I need. I don’t think it will be long. I am almost done cutting fabric for those stars and then I can cut diamonds.

I am getting scared about how big this quilt will be.

  1. No doubt, it’s going to be big. But it’s going to shrink a lot when you start stitching — things that are set on point seem to shrink more in the construction process — remember how much smaller the Basket quilt was once it was sewed?

I would be curious to see four of those diamonds stitched together and placed next to an un-pieced set of four, just to test this theory!

    1. I was thinking the same thing. I may cut some sample diamonds and try sewing them together. I have really been working on the construction process of this piece lately. DH and I spent a lot of time on Sunday working on the setting diamonds. I am still looking at possibly purchasing the Fast2Cut setting diamonds set (http://www.ctpubblog.com/2010/06/02/fast2cut-ruler-and-templates-giveaway/) to make cutting the setting diamonds easier. DH didn’t think I needed it, but it might be easier if I had it. I still have not heard back from Jan Krentz about whether it would work with the ruler I have and I don’t know anyone who has the set.
