Project Progress

I now have 15 Cross Blocks (Flowering Snowball). I could have laid them out in a 3×5 grid, but it didn’t look that good.
MavMomMary and I took the Pineapple Quilt Class together back in January. She is already putting her quilt together. I haven’t seen it since she had only done a few blocks and was thrilled to see it today. I think it looks fantastic. And very different from mine.

And a detail.

  1. Your block arrangement looks great – how large is this going to end up? Although I’ve sewn curves – they still make me nervous!

And BTW, my bloglines thing is totally off again and yes I know that you are always 2nd from the bottom of my FAVORITES, which of course does not mean I don’t stop by first!

  2. Vicki: Thanks! I am really happy with the way the Cross Blocks are turning out.

My mom’s quilt is turning out really well. She has been disparaging it recently (this is the first time I have seen it since January) and so I was really surprised when I saw how gorgeous it is.

Deirdre: The arrangement is kind of freeflowing, because I pick them up after every time I lay them out. It is a good exercise, though, because I can see what colors I need to add. I don’t know how large the quilt will be. I am just working on it until I don’t want to work on it anymore. We’ll see. My other hand projects are calling, so I may have to put it on hold to finish a couple of other hand projects. We’ll see.
I know that my blog is your absolute favorite, so I am happy to stay second to last. 😉

Threadspider: I am finding this project to be great for using fabrics that I love, but never use in my normal projects. I try and stop buying them, but I still find myself picking up the large conversationals and wild prints periodically.

  3. So many cross blocks now – it’s really looking fantastic! The fabrics really “move” forward and backwards visually, creating a 3-D affect. Love it.

  4. Laume: I believe I finished the 16th block last week and did one seam this eve while we watched TV, chatted with the DS and generally hung out. I am glad that you like the fabrics as you were instrumental in getting me to go scrappy. That decision has turned out to be one of the best ones that I have made. I wouldn’t have been able to make it as interesting using the same fabrics for each of the ‘corner’ pieces (that come together to make the circle). I would not have had enough fabric. As it is, I have a wide variety of fabrics represented, which makes me happy.
