This is one of the most cheerful quilts I have seen in a long time. I really like the background squares butted up against each other and the circles taking up almost all the space, but leaving just enough for the backgrounds to peek through.

  1. This quilt is very cool. I followed the links to her blog and looked more closely — the circles seem to have been made by overdying the “background”, making the circle “foreground” stand out. Not something I would ever have the patience to do, but very inspirational. Thanks for posting the link!

    There is an article in the recent issue of QA that talks about the same kind of process. It might even be he same quilt. I though the same kind of effect could be created with tone-on-one and medium to large scale prints combined with applique or the Ruth McDowell inset circles piecing technique.
