Cupcake Block

Cupcake Block for Mark
Cupcake Block for Mark

Lynn of Country Crossroads Quilt Shop started a project to make a quilt for Mark Lipinski. The theme was cupcakes and the block to the left is the one I made for him. Lynn said that he likes pink, so pink it was. I had the pink dot out for the Swoon #6 block, so I used it for the background. The cupcake pattern is from the Tarts Come to Tea. I just made the cake part a bit taller so it looked robust.

Lynn must be a woman to be reckoned with, because I got a photo of the quilt and someone delivered the quilt to Mark in time for his birthday.

I was really thrilled to get a photo of the quilt from Lynn.It is a wonderful quilt. There is a block in the upper left corner that has the Facebook “Like” thumbs-up symbol. There is a really a lot of nice work in this piece.

Someone also made him a very cute chef’s hat. I saw a photo of Mark wearing the hat on Linda Lum deBono’s Facebook page.

Just fun.

  1. OH! I wish I had known! I would have made a block too. But then I guess there are a lot of us “closet” likers of Mr Mark. 😀
What a great idea. I bet he shed a tear or three!!! lol
You’re so good to make things for others. What was the last thing you made just for yourself? hmmmmm???

    1. I gave your name to the organizer. There seems to be another one in the works for after he gets his kidney.

Your question about what I last made for myself was a good one. The quilts I make aren’t often specified for anyone, but also not necessarily quilts I am interested in keeping around. I guess the last thing I made with the Innocent Crush bag. I use it quite a bit, which is good. Can’t think Of anything else.

  2. Oh well, I guess I am not as infamous as those that were asked. 😉 I don’t mind hiding in the bushes these days. My weight loss blog has practically exploded with followers! I guess losing over 100 pounds is a big deal, eh? 🙂
Not exactly the same track as the “what have you made for yourself” question, but I have to get over my issue of not making art just because it might not be good enough or sell-able. Now how dumb is THAT!!!??? I trip myself up over and over again. I get inspired but bog down when it comes to making the inspiration because if I DO follow through, it is less than desirable. I need to get over myself on such thoughts!

btw, YOU inspire me often. Thank you. 🙂

    1. You can’t get better if you don’t make stuff. Just make stuff. Who cares if others think it is good enough? Get over yourself!

And thanks for reading! And commenting!
